This 49 hectare estate has recently been in outstanding form to maintain its reputation as a ‘Super Second Growth’. Bruno Borie has continued to reduce the quantity of Ducru produced, nearly halving the quantity since 2003.

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

A very severe selection for the first wine has resulted in a leap in quality for the second wine at this Château. The grapes for this wine come from the central part of the St Julien commune. A super second wine from a "super second" Classed Growth property.
Ripe, hedonistic yet elegant. This sums up this wonderfully complex and beautifully knit claret from the humorous and always entertaining Bruno Borie. Layers of warm black fruits, infused with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla pod and cassis. Elegant throughout yet powerfully structured. A lovely touch of herbal freshness permeates this wine, yet underlying these fresh and elegant touches is the brooding sense of power, generous tannins and sinew. Long in the mouth, persistent, creamy and concentrated. Outstanding.
Enjoy with a classic beef wellington.
Aged in 100% new oak for 18 months
