Tequila is the regional name for a distilled beverage made from the blue agave plant, primarily in the area surrounding the city of Tequila, in the highlands of the North Western Mexican state of Jalisco. Traditionally known as a short drink famous for the tequila slammer, our range has moved with the times in offering a more premium range of tequilas to be enjoyed over and over. Great to sip and to use as the base for cocktails!
Gulliermo Sauza is honouring the tradition of his family and using artisanal methods to create the best 100% agave tequila that tastes like no other. Still Strength is the classic Blanco flavour taken to a new level. For years, the only way to sample this fantastic Tequila was at the distillery in Jalisco, until now.
Within the Mezcal category, unaged spirit is usually called Joven (young) but is the same as any Blanco or Silver in the Tequila category, in that it never sees the inside of an oak barrel. Ilegal Joven is bottled very soon after distillation and is made from 100% Espadin agave.
A great example of a traditional blanco Tequila, Tapatio Blanco is rested for two months in stainless steel tanks post distillation and prior to bottling. At 40% ABV Tapatio Blanco has a higher ABV than the Reposado and Añejo so that, when used in Margaritas and cocktails, the character of the agave shines through.
