Established in 1979, Lakeland Vintners is a local, family owned wine merchant supplying the hotel and restaurant industry. Based in Ings in the Lake District National Park, we are perfectly positioned to serve clients from Carlisle to Preston with prompt, reliable service and a diverse range of high quality wines.
We specialise in working with small, often family owned producers from around the world, allowing us to carefully hand select unique wines that you won’t find on supermarket shelves. Our portfolio includes over 2,500 wines, many of which are award winning and highly rated by respected independent wine writers.
As part House of Townend, a fifth generation, family owned wine merchant established in 1906, Lakeland Vintners benefits from their deep industry knowledge, strong producer relationships and a proven track record of finding interesting, finely crafted wines. House of Townend has received multiple awards, including International Wine Challenge Regional Merchant of the Year as well as Decanter Burgundy Specialist of the Year, reflecting the quality and reputation behind everything we do.

With our own fully stocked warehouse, in-house logistics team, and a carefully assembled portfolio of wines from around the world, we work closely with chefs, sommeliers, and hospitality operators to deliver tailored wine solutions that enhance their dining experience. Founded in 1979 by Tony Jackson and now part of the award winning House of Townend wine company, a family run business established in 1906, Lakeland Vintners continues to thrive whilst staying true to our independent roots. We work with winemakers to blend and develop our own wines that are specifically focused towards the restaurant and hotel trade, and our total portfolio consists of over 2500 wines. Combined with our personal service, local hands-on approach and deep understanding of the independent trade, we are confident that we can offer everything you require to help develop your business.
