Château Montrose

Montrose is one of the great traditional names of Bordeaux, always sought-after by En Primeur fans. It was bought in 2006 by the Bouygues family and in recent years an astonishing investment programme has been carried out at the château. Now under the stewardship of Herve Berland, formerly at Mouton Rothschild, this château. continues to compete at the very highest level. With only 37% of the crop used in this year’s fi rst wine at this château, only the very best fruit has been included in the blend. It is an outstanding result and undoubtedly amongst the finest in the commune, if not the vintage.
Deep and brooding with an intense black currant filled bouquet. The mouthfeel is rich and succulent, almost creamy in texture, multi layered with power and poise. This is an astonishingly good Montrose
Enjoy with a classic beef wellington.
The Grand Vin is made up of 50% of the estate's production in 2018 and aged in 66% new oak

"Extremely deep, concentrated crimson. Intense and exciting on the nose. Great richness; I don’t think I would guess the appellation if served this blind. Though there is some stoniness on the finish. Hugely concentrated but not exaggerated. Very long and complex. All set for a great long life." 18/20 points, Jancis Robinson, JancisRobinson.com, November 2021
