Domaine des Echardières
Luc Pouillain purchased the 16 hectare Domaine des Echardières in 2000 from one of the many divisions of the local Launay clan. The cellars are located in the village of Angé, whilst the vines are located on what is referred to as the Premier Côte between Angé and the neighbouring commune of Pouillé. Split almost equally white and red, there are seven hectares of Sauvignon, planted on two different soil types, flint and limestone, which are vinified apart.
Produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc, this is a wonderful quenching wine with great minerality and a touch of sea salt. Profound with an amazing depth of flavour, and fine lengthy finish.
A great partner to lovely rare seared tuna with a sesame crust and tomato, basil, onion and avocado salsa.
