The Liberator - Episode 12, Napoleon Bona Part Two

LIBE025
The Liberator is a label put together by Richard Kelley MW, who is the man behind Dreyfus Ashby. They tend to be quite small but interesting batches which Rick picks up or hears about when he’s out on tour around The Cape. They all have the added bonus of really well thought out labels, some of them being hilariously funny. If you are wondering what the Napoleon connection is, it is the fact that the wine was made in the classic Constantia style and we obviously all know that Napoleon Bonaparte allegedly drank a bottle of Constantia every day during his exile on the island of Saint-Helena.

Nederburg

Nestled in Paarl, Nederburg is South Africa's most decorated name in wine, with more prizes and accolades than any other winery in the country, however winemaker Andrea Freeborough will tell you that she and her team don't make wines to win awards but to please people's palates.

Tasting Notes

An intensely sweet wine, low in alcohol (9%) but rich in barley sugar and honey. Nice and long.

Food Matches

Great with crème caramel
