Château Lynch Bages

Situated on the Bages plateau, one of the finest gravelly rises in the appellation, this château, owned by the Cazes family for nearly 100 years is always one of the most popular amongst Bordeaux drinkers. Aged in 75% new oak, this is a classic Lynch Bages.
The bouquet is dominated by perfumed cassis aromas that possess a stunning purity. The palate is very intense, big and powerful, very much representing the typicity of the Pauillac commune. With characters of blackcurrant, liquorice and subtle tones of cedar, the mouthfeel is very expressive and balanced by a delicious freshness and fi nely tuned tannins. As ever, this will be in high demand and will bless any cellar in the land.

The first and second wines from Lynch-Bages are drawn off into split stave-wood oak barrels with optimum aromatic capacity, made by reputed barrel-makers, before being aged in their cellars. Before being enjoyed, they are required to rest for a period of time in order to soften out and fully integrate the aromas imparted from the oak. The winemaker's skilled craft involves regular racking and fining for harmonisation before the wines are bottled at the château and aged.

James Suckling95-96/100 Very classic styled Lynch with pretty ripe fruit and tannin balanced. Full body, firm and chewy tannins yet polished and refined. Alcohol and fruit balance are lower than other top years and give this wine freshness and energy.
