Made to our exacting specifications, Les Argelieres is a unique range of modern, fruity varietal wines from the Languedoc, made with the aim of showing the elegance, subtlety and perfect varietal 'signature' of each grape variety as planted in the warm vineyards of Southern France. Grown on cooler hill sites and with a yield that is cropped and limted to concentrate the ripe apricot and peaches character of Viognier, and balanced on a zesty, fresh acidity that enlivens the palate.

Marilyn Lasserre

Marilyn is a genuine pioneer. Since her return to France in 2008, she has significantly contributed to the renewed success of Languedoc’s wines. Bringing her feminine touch to traditionally strong, rustic and full-bodied wines, Marilyn succeeded in improving quality and taste with a rigorous selection in the vineyards and perfect control of the winemaking process. Marilyn studied Viticulture and Oenology in Bordeaux, and has spent time working in various regions throughout the world. Les Argelières is a tribute to the “Terroir” from which these wines are produced, a terroir mostly made of pebble and limestone perfectly exposed to the sun. It enhances the fruit aromas as well as the mineral style of the white wines, whilst giving the reds a vibrant fruit character. The Pays d’Oc has a history of over 2600 years of vine-growing and winemaking. Over the centuries, the wine trade became more and more structured and grew rapidly. The region greatly benefits from the Mediterranean climate, bringing warm mist, and the Black Mountain which offers limestone and clay “terroirs” with cool temperatures.

Bright yellow with green hues, apricot and mango aromas mixed up with a whiff of rose petals and almonds. A juicy palate with herbal hints and a lingering finish.
Enjoy with a hearty portion of spaghetti carbonara.
The ripe grapes are harvested at night when temperature is cool preserving the variety's lovely flavours. In the cellar the grapes are destemmed and pressed under inert gas to prevent from oxidation. The juice macerates for a few days at very low temperature, and is stirred every day on its lees adding complexity and pure aromas to the must. After fermentation, the wine stays on its fine yeast creating the velvety texture.

Jancisrobinson.com, 15/20 points: "A jolly, fruit-salad Viognier with good varietal characteristics." Wine Merchant Magazine, Tried and Tested, May 2023: "Languedoc winemaker Marilyn Lasserre's brief is to bring out the true character of the varieties she works with, and she's ticked all the boxes with this peachy, apricot-tinged Viognier. We've all tasted Viognier that plays these cards rather too enthusiastically, but Lasserre has maintained elegance (the vineyards are on hilly sites) as well as fruit concentration."
