Once again a truly great claret from Château Ducru Beaucaillou. This 49 hectare estate has recently been in outstanding form to maintain its reputation as a ‘Super Second Growth’. Bruno Borie has continued to reduce the quantity of Ducru produced, nearly halving the quantity since 2003. La Croix de Beaucaillou, the chateau’s second (and also very impressive) wine, now accounts for a greater share of the crop than the first wine. This has resulted in the quality of Ducru Beaucaillou sky rocketing.

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

A very severe selection for the first wine has resulted in a leap in quality for the second wine at this Château. The grapes for this wine come from the central part of the St Julien commune. A super second wine from a "super second" Classed Growth property.
Aged in 100% new oak for 18 months, this Ducru shows power, depth and immense fruit intensity. The tannins are sturdy but without excessive edge and the wine is brooding, tightly knit with perfect balance. Outstanding!
Enjoy with a classic beef wellington.
