Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

A very severe selection for the first wine has resulted in a leap in quality for the second wine at this Château. The grapes for this wine come from the central part of the St Julien commune. A super second wine from a "super second" Classed Growth property.

Tasting Notes

"A classy, complex bouquet of lead pencil, mineral, earth, cassis, and flowers jumps from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-colored 1997. Evolved and elegant, with noticeable tannin, it exhibits both breed and class as well as moderate weight, excellent depth, purity, and symmetry. Enjoy it now and over the next 10-12 years ... at the minimum"". Robert Parker Jr Wine Advocate #128 April 2000"

Food Matches

Enjoy with roast ribs of beef and yorkshire pudding with a horseradish, crème fraiche and mustard sauce.
