Domaine Mestre Michelot

Domaine Michelot has been in the Michelot family for six generations and, having increased in size over the years, now comprises 22 hectares which include a number of prestigious 1er cru wines. The domaine achieved widespread recognition in the 60s under the direction of the charismatic Bernard Michelot and this spirit and tradition flourishes and grows in the hands of the current generation. The Meursault vineyards are made up of a number of “terroirs” – parcels of land with individual characteristics of soil, drainage and orientation – and their distinct personalities yield a diverse range of wines. Jean-François Mestre assumed control of the vineyards and winemaking in 1993. Mestre, who is married to one of Bernard Michelot’s four daughters, has spent the last twenty years raising the profile of this domaine which is now widely regarded as one of the finest in the Meursault appellation. He is now joined in the business by his son, Nicolai.

Tasting Notes

A ripe and appealing bouquet, expressive with Fuji apple notes, balancing spice and wet stones. There is a delicious citrus quality here which really lifts the wine to another level. Buttered apple, lemon meringue, honey, and a wonderful textured mouthfeel.

Food Matches

Very good with lobster with noodles and pak choi.
