Domaine Michelot

Domaine Michelot has been in the Michelot family for six generations and, having increased in size over the years, now comprises more than 19 hectares which include a number of prestigious 1er cru wines. The domaine achieved widespread recognition in the 60s under the direction of the charismatic Bernard Michelot and this spirit and tradition flourishes and grows in the hands of the current generation. The Meursault vineyards are made up of a number of “terroirs” – parcels of land with individual characteristics of soil, drainage and orientation – and their distinct personalities yield a diverse range of wines.
This is one of the most highly regarded 1er Cru situated to the south of the village where the soil is poor with high mineral content. Produced in a mixture of 70% barrique (228lt) of which 50% is new, and 30% large oak barrels, of which 15% is new.A multi-dimensional wine that simply oozes class. There is a stunning layered minerality with notes of spice and wet stone, but the powerful fruit is something to behold. Intense, nutty and honeyed with some baked apples and quenching tropical fruits married by a very subtle seamless weave of oak.
Delicious with pan roasted swordfish steaks with mixed peppercorn butter.
