This is as pure an expression of Chardonnay as you can find. A must buy! Produced from four small separate parcels of vines and vinified in a mixture of 4-5 year old barrels and large foudres. The small 2021 vintage saw a yield that was a mere 35hl/ha.

Gerard Boudot, son-in-law of the late Etienne Sauzet, is one of the star winemakers of this appellation, now supported by his daughter Emilie and her husband, Benoit Riffault. This small, 8 hectare, bio-dynamically farmed domaine, produces wines of great definition and style and are highly sought after. The wine shows good limpid colour, an uplifted nose, quite muscular with a note of marzipan, baked apple and citrus lime. The palate is full and rich with an amazing tautness and savoury steely quality. This is classic Sauzet – ultra clean, crisp and restrained. The finish is long, intense and has layers of hazelnut and almond butter. Overall this is as pure an expression of Chardonnay as you can find. A must buy!
