McHenry Hohnen
McHenry Hohnen Vintners is a venture between pioneer Margaret River winemaker David Hohnen and his brother-in-law and vine-grower, Murray McHenry. All the grapes are sourced from family owned vineyards in the southern part of the Margaret River region.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of ripe stone fruit with underlying grapefruit notes. Ripe peach and nectarine on the palate with hints of bright grapefruit. A subtle texture from lees stirring in barrel serves to add complexity to the wine. Good balanced acidity and length.
Food Matches
A perfect accompaniment to white meat and fish dishes. Or try with a creamy mushroom pasta.
Vinification
All the grapes are handpicked from vines averaging 18 years old. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels. Oak barrels (10% new) are used during the maturation process which lasts for a period of 9 months
