From one of California’s most awarded wine estates, Jordan Chardonnay is often mistaken for a white Burgundy. Not a typical California Chardonnay, it is the combination of night-harvested Russian River Valley grapes, French oak aging and old-world winemaking techniques which has created a balanced white wine defined by purity of stone, fruit flavors, vibrant acidity and a succulent finish.

Jordan Vineyard & Winery

Established in 1972, by Tom and Sally Jordan, Jordan Vineyard & Winery was inspired by the great wines of Burgundy and Bordeaux. Jordan estate farms on 1,200 acres in Sonoma’s cool Alexander Valley, north of Napa and represents quality and consistency, with focus on producing only the very best Chardonnay and Cabernet which show a distinct focus on the greatest names of Burgundy and Bordeaux. Named 'The Best Vineyard in North America 2023' by World's Best Vineyards, and now headed by 2nd generation John Jordan, these wines are World class on every level! John along with winemaker Rob Davis, who has been responsible for every vintage of Jordan since the inaugural 1976, continue to preserve the great ecological richness of this property, achieving numerous sustainability certifications. The diversity of the estate vineyard blocks with clay-rich soils like the Right Bank of Bordeaux and some of the best family grower parcels on mid-slope, well-drained Sonoma County vineyards with mineral-rich, gravelly soils reminiscent of Bordeaux’s Left Bank, gives their Cabernet Sauvignon a complexity found only in the top first growths of the world.

“A vintage defined by its crispness, vibrancy and freshness. Pretty aromas of honeysuckle, lemon blossom and Fuji apple spring from the glass. The palate boasts bright, lively layers of citrus with a hint of oak and creaminess from careful barrel aging and batonnage. Flavours of kumquat, lemon and Fuji apple linger in the juicy, mouth-watering finish.”

This rich and complex Chardonnay comes from several prime vineyards situated along the cool Russian River Valley in Sonoma – this is one of the few inlets where cold Pacific fogs penetrate into the inner reaches of the warm sandy vineyards that stretch from Sonoma town toward Bodega Bay on the coast. The grapes are picked over several days to ensure maximum freshness and ripeness is combined, all hand-picked and transported to the winery in Alexander valley. The grapes are optically sorted to discard any grapes less than perfect, and then pressed, before fermentation in steel tanks for twelve days using wild yeasts at around 18C. The wine is then transferred into used and 10% new French oak from Allier and Nevers forests, and aged for twelve months in oak ( with lees stirring ) and a further twelve months in bottle prior to release. The freshness and crisp acidity is always a surprise, in character this wine more Puligny than Napa!
