The Clunia vineyards are located in the province of Burgos, Castilla y León at an altitude of between 900 and 1,100 metres above the sea level. Historically they have grown two grape varieties; three hectares of Syrah, and 10 hectares of Tempranillo, however, they have now added Malbec to their repertoire. The organic composition of this land is very poor, these are limestone, clay and sandy soils with pebbles and limestone loames which allow for an optimal drainage, thus limiting production considerably –between 3,000 and 4,000Kg/hectare. The singular character of this terroir results in wines with a unique personality, only changing slightly according to the subtle variations determined by the soil of each vineyard.
Bright yellow in appearance with hints of green and golden hues. On the nose there are fresh fruit aromas of apricot, pineapple and grapefruit with subtle floral and herbal hints. Fresh and elegant on tasting, with an ample fruit palate and a long, lingering fruity finish.
Spanish dishes like scallops, paella, jumbo salad are made to pair with Albillo white wines. Alternatively, ideal with savoury cheeses cured ham grilled or roast chicken or smoked salmon.
The grapes are hand harvested, with no pressing involved. Only the free run must is used in making the wine. Fermented in 500L French oak barrels for a period of 5 months.

Wines From Spain Awards, 2019. Joanna Simon, Wine of the Week, October 2023: 'The 2021 has a delicate, fresh nose of white peach and linden flowers and a generous, mouth-filling palate with mineral and lime-zest acidity and a touch of spice. It's creamy, polished and individual, reminding me slightly of Godello and slightly of Viognier.' Decanter Highly Recommended, Febraury 2024, 93 points: ‘Coconut cream, camomile, thyme honey and bitters. Orchard fruit, melon and papaya, lemon curd lining. Ginger spice and nougatine finish.’
