The Teroldego grape is native to Trentino and has been cultivated here since ancient times. It is extremely rich in polyphenols and grows perfectly in the sub Mediterranean climate of South Tyrol. The grapes, which are the source of the most characteristic Teroldego wine, ripen on the gentle slopes of the Avisio Hills around the Rotaliana Plain.

Cantina Lavis

Cantina Lavis is an historical winery located at the heart of the Trentino subregion. Founded in 1850 by the Cembran family, it has been a cooperative since 1948.

Lavis Teroldego is deep ruby red in colour with an aroma of violets that develops notes of plum and small forest fruits. It is soft and rounded on the palate with a particularly spacious finish.
Great with starter dishes with meat sauces as pappardelle with hare sauce, but also roasted meats such as pork loin.
Manual harvesting started in early October. Fermentation was at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks with malolactic fermentation in fibreglass reinforced concrete tanks, ageing on the lees for approximately 5/6 months in fibreglass reinforced concrete tanks, with a portion aged in French oak barrels that have been used once previously, prior to bottling.

Jancisrobinson.com, 2023, 15.5: "An edgy, energetic wine that tastes like kissing wild-strawberry- and forest-blueberry-stained lips. There is an undertow of fresh mushrooms and mushroom compost and a lick of old lichen-covered stones and then the finish loops back to fruit and the tannins feel like little fingers pressing in gently. A friendly red with lovely mountain freshness." Wine Merchant Magazine, Tried and Tested, 2023:"The Teroldego variety is at home here in Trentino, adapting well to the sub-Mediterranean climate of South Tyrol. It's clearly in expert hands with the Cantina Lavis co-operative, which has crafted a soft and approachable wine with plummy notes, and an extra level of depth as a result of five months on its lees and some partial oak ageing."
