A lovely claret, the warm and even 2020 vintage really pushing the ripe fruit and elegant ‘cigar’ box and cedar wood character of this Haut Medoc classic, yet it also retains a nice freshness to the supple finish. As a modern claret it drinks well now, but could easily age for another 5-7 years.

Château Cissac

Château Cissac belongs to the Vialard family, and its reputation was built on the tireless work of Louis Vialard, who established the wine’s fame through the 1970s and 1980s. Situated in the northern-most Haut-Médoc appellation, this historic château dates from 1769. The soil in the vineyards is less diverse than in the Médoc, predominantly sandy, with gravel

Nose: Ripe blackcurrants, dark plums, fresh red fruits, vanilla, sweet tobacco, cedar wood, and subtle spice. Palate: Medium-bodied with juicy dark fruit, supple and well-balanced tannins, a hint of green peppercorn, and an earthy, smoky finish.
