Château Rouget is one of Pomerol’s historic estates, owned by the Labruyère family since 1992. Its vineyards sit on prized clay and gravel soils near some of Pomerol’s most legendary properties, giving the wines richness and remarkable elegance. Rather than chasing power alone, Château Rouget is known for silky textures, dark plum fruit, subtle spice, and earthy truffle complexity with an with an element of whole bunch fermentation included during the vinification process. Rouget stands as a polished yet understated expression of Pomerol known for its authenticity, balance and revival story.

Château Rouget

This Pomerol property was purchased by the Labruyère family in 1992. Located in the northern part of the appellation, located near such famous names as Eglise-Clinet and Petrus, the 18 ha of vines stretch across the gentle slopes of the Pomerol plateau. Unusual for Bordeaux is the practice of whole bunch ferment in the vinification process. The wines from the property get better year on year.
A very pretty and floral bouquet, intense wild flower aromas and strawberry fragrance. The palate is finely constructed with black and red fruits and succulent tannins woven into the core. A wonderful Pomerol that possesses both richness and charm.
Harvest 10th - 23rd Septmeber with a yield of only 22hl/ha. 30% whole bunch fermentation, aged in 20% new oak barrels of which 50% are demi-muids. 13.0% Alc.
