Château Bonalgue

Originally built by one of Napoleon’s officers on his return from the Egyptian campaign over 200 years ago this property covers 7 hectares with an ideal exposure.
With an average age of just 25 years, this prime Pomerol Château sits just outside the village itself, on heavy clay soil. The wine is harvested at just 27hl/ha in 2021, and aged for 18 months in 40% new oak. The result - a finely tuned, expressive and succulent Pomerol, showing lovely ripe raspberry coulis fruit, mocha, oak and baked plum, with energy and a long elegant and finely tuned finish.
A perfect partner for roast rack of lamb served pink.
Fermentation carried out plot by plot, in small stainless and cement vats with manual pumping over and punching of the caps. The malolactic fermentation took place in barrel. Aged for 18 months in fine-grained French oak barrels (40% new)
