Château Brane Cantenac

Owned by AXA Millésimes since 1989. Under the direction of Christian Seely this château has been totally transformed and is producing excellent wine.
In 2022 they achieved full malolactic in barrel. Improvements in recent years have seen the introduction of optical sorting tables and since 2018, 100% new oak for every vintage. Winemaker Henri Lurton uses an innovative air plunging system instead of the normal mechanical ‘pump overs’ to aid a softer extraction. The richness and elegance of this Margaux cannot be over-stated. A magnificent, moreish and plump wine, with a lovely fleshiness of sweet dark fruit, cherry, cassis and spicy pepper. The tannins are more yielding and enveloping than most, a thick wool jacket rather than a whale boned corset! The acidity is fresh, the elegance profound and the whole impression is of a wonderful deep and richly structured claret that will eventually give enormous pleasure.
Delicious with rare roast beef with seasonal vegetables and yorkshire pudding.
Yield of 31.5 hl/ha. Aged in 100% new oak barrels for 18 months.
