In 2022 they achieved full malolactic in barrel. Improvements in recent years have seen the introduction of optical sorting tables and since 2018, 100% new oak for every vintage. Winemaker Henri Lurton uses an innovative air plunging system instead of the normal mechanical ‘pump overs’ to aid a softer extraction.
The richness and elegance of this Margaux cannot be over-stated. A magnificent, moreish and plump wine, with a lovely fleshiness of sweet dark fruit, cherry, cassis and spicy pepper. The tannins are more yielding and enveloping than most, a thick wool jacket rather than a whale boned corset! The acidity is fresh, the elegance profound and the whole impression is of a wonderful deep and richly structured claret that will eventually give enormous pleasure.
