Château Beychevelle

Château Beychevelle is an estate along La Gironde about 30 miles northwest of Bordeaux near the village of St.-Julien. Founded in the Middle Ages, Château Beychevelle was once owned by an admiral in the French navy who demanded respect by baisse voile (lowering of the masts when passing his riverfront fortification). A rich yet elegant expression of Beychevelle, precise and complex, brimming with generous sweet black and red fruits, raspberry, black cherry and a touch of liquorice. Voluptuous and generous, even exotic, showing great fruit intensity balanced by a beguiling freshness and purity. The tannins are plush and a touch of cedar lingers in the mouth.
Harvest 5th -20th with a yield of 32 hl/ha. Will be aged in 70% new oak for 18 months. Alc 13.5%.
