Château Beycheville
A large estate of 69 hectares, Beychevelle has the reputation of producing generally forward wine to give easy early drinking pleasure. Yields were low at 47hl/ha.
Tasting Notes
Always a firm favourite amongst British claret drinkers, Beychevelle seems to exceed the parameters of the vintage, and in 2021 have produced a very appealing and elegant wine with less Merlot than usual. The colour is dark with an oily appearance, the nose immediate and showing signs of freshness behind the restrained black fruits. On the palate there is a lovely ripe black fruits character, underpinned by fresh raspberry, cherry and overtones of minerals. There is real restraint here, with medium-weight structure, complexity and firming tannins.
Vinification
Aged in 70% new oak for 18 months.
