This domaine is the star property in the appellation of St Aubin. It was created back in 1973 by Hubert Lamy who was followed by his son Olivier, who has managed the family property since 1996, following his training at Domaine Meo Camuzet. He immediately introduced the changes that have ultimately elevated this domaine into the higher echelons of Burgundian winemaking. Domaine Hubert Lamy

Created back in 1973 by Hubert Lamy, this domaine has been run by his son, Olivier, since 1996 following his training at Domaine Meo Camuzet. He immediately introduced the changes that have ultimately elevated this domaine into the higher echelons of Burgundian winemaking. He ceased selling grapes to negociants and sold off peripheral vineyards to concentrate on the oldest and best sites. High density planting was introduced to glean as much expression of terroir as possible and selection tables were introduced into the cuverie to ensure that only the finest grapes are used. His more recent move to reduce the amount of new oak and the introduction of demi-muids (300-600lt barrels) has also helped to improve the wines at this domaine and resulted in a greater propensity to age. Olivier adapts his winemaking to the vintage. It is now without doubt one of the star domaines in Burgundy and any quality cellar should contain some wines from Olivier Lamy.

Tasting Notes

The Clos de Meix is a small 0.7ha walled plot of vines overlooking the Southern aspect of the village - the extra warmth of the ‘clos’ gives a higher degree of richness. The vines were planted in two blocks in 1985 and 1995 on a soil of hard chalk and rock overlaid with large stones. Tight, steely and beautifully crafted, the palate is laden with ripe fruit. There is a lovely streak of minerality, wet stone and a touch of almond gives added character.
