Dopff & Irion

Based in the Hansel and Gretal-like village of Riquewihr in the heart of Alsace, this highly respected producer, dating back to the 16th century is now in the hands of the Cave de Pfaffenheim. Established in 1957 by the growers of the villages of Pfaffenheim and Gueberschwir, this is one of the top cooperatives in Alsace. There is a very focused and evironmentally friendly vineyard regime, all grapes are handpicked and a great deal of investment has gone into the winery.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw colour, the bouquet boasts a great typicity with floral aromas, rose, exotic pine, apple, mango and lychee. The palate is round and soft, well balanced, long and aromatic, with lychee and exotic fruits.. A stylish Gewurztraminer.

Jane MacQuitty, The Times 2016: "A brilliant festive choice for smoked salmon and trout or spicy oriental food. I love its thrilling exotic rose petal and lily scent, which is pumped up with fresh ginger and juicy papaya."
