The hallmark of the Bannockburn Chardonnay has always been its purity and that continues to be the driving force in the 2025 vintage. Grown in the heart of Bannockburn, this Chardonnay is produced from fruit across Calvert, Cornish Point and The Elms vineyards. Very Burgundian in style with good mineral quality and great ageing potential. The new oak influence is very subtle and contributes most obviously to the structure and complexity of this wine without masking the fruit.

Tasting Notes

A focussed nose of citrus blossom, mineral and a hint of fresh peach invites you in. Then a rush of pure refreshment; citrus, white peach, greengage, but all so fresh, just on the cusp of ripening. The ethereal florals persist with the flavours right into the clean linear finish, where a gentle wave of salinity closes the show. A wine completely empty of ego, happy to please with its deliciousness.

Vinification

This Chardonnay is fermented and aged for 11 months in French oak (5 % new). It combines fruit from diverse sites to deliver complexity and balance.

The Wine Front, 95 points: "White peach, grapefruit, a dusting of cinnamon, some perfume and a sourdough savoury edge. It’s fresh and bursting with flavour, a mix of grapefruit, green mango, pear and nectarine, has fine cool acidity, a light powdery texture, finishing long with excellent intensity, lively juicy acidity, and a sort of salted oatmeal and preserved lemon thing to close. It’s a lovely wine and very yum. I think it’s maybe the best Bannockburn Chardonnay I’ve tasted to date and just over the line for 95 points."
