Type: Red Wine
Country: Portugal
Region: Douro Valley
Code: VALE025
A single vineyard, complex and age-worthy red wine from the Poças Port family. This wine, with its evocative label, is a great example of why the Upper Douro region is as well-regarded for red wine as it is for Port.

Poças Júnior

In 1918, a few months before the Armistice, Manoel Domingues Poças Júnior, who had been born in the heart of the Port Wine hustle and bustle, decided to establish his own company. Manoel Poças was 30 years old and he had some experience in this business. With his uncle, he created a company to sell grape spirits to large Port Wine shippers. Soon afterwards he opened a head office in Vila Nova de Gaia, where they remain to this day. Today, with three quintas in the best winemaking areas of the Douro Demarcated Region, Poças ensures its total control over the quality of its wines and the family is more involved than ever before.
Deep red in appearance. Full of dark cherry fruit aromas with a touch of spice. Medium-bodied with great polish and elegant tannins.
Try this wine with good cuts of roast red meats, casseroles, spiced Mexican dishes, game and decent hard cheese.
Grape selection inthe field and harvested manually. Typical vine age 40-60 years. 20% matured in second year French "Allier" oak casks. 80% stays in stainless steel vats.
