Domaine Taupenot-Merme

The Taupenot-Merme Domaine is located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, in Morey Saint Denis, and cultivates 13 Ha of vines spread over 20 appellations in the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits. There is a long history of viticulture in the Taupenot family and Romain Taupenot, who runs this fantastic estate, is the seventh generation to make it his metier. The actual domaine was founded in 1963 after the marriage of Denise Merme and Jean Taupenot and Romain joined full time in 1998. In terms of vineyard holdings, thanks in large part to the history and depth of the family, the domaine is spread quite widely across the Cote d’Or with vines in Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-St-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits-St-Georges, Corton, Saint-Romain and Auxey-Duresses.

Great wine but no volume! Just 4 barrels made (1200 bottles) but it is lovely. Delightfully inviting savoury aromas, excellent concentration and Morey character. Structured and intense.

Great paired with a roast leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic.
