Hailing from the right bank’s Côtes de Bourg appellation, Château Peyrolan is a merlot-dominant claret (85 % Merlot, 15 % Cabernet Sauvignon). With 18years under its belt, this magnum is now really hitting its stride

Château Peyrolan

Château Peyrolan is situated north of Bordeaux on the east bank of the Gironde with vineyards overlooking the estuary in the town of Saint-Ciers-de-Canesse. It was formed when François de Pardieu bought 12 hectares of vines in 1975, which his son Benoit has now extended to 33 hectares. The vines are on clay and limestone over red gravel and produce soft and fruity wines using modern techniques.
Classic nose of cherry and figs. There are some delicate high-toned elements providing a freshness to the medley whilst earthy undertones give a nod to some maturity. The palate displays a ripe red fruit character combined with juiciness and silky tannins. There are attractive savoury notes, woody spice and a little graininess – overall this is rounded with charm and personality.
Fantastic with Beef Wellington
