A wonderful example of the elegance of Margaux wines, produced by one of the last family properties of the Margaux appellation, with its vineyards located in Arsac next to the most prestigious Grands Crus Classes.

Château Le Coteau

Château Le Coteau is one of the last small family-owned properties in Margaux. Éric Léglise has run it since 1973, with a commitment to the land and the ideal of being a bon vigneron. The vineyard of 12 hectares is on the classic Margaux Gunzian gravels, which favour Cabernet Sauvignon, and is hence planted with 65% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet-Franc, 5% Merlot and 2% Petit-Verdot. Most of the parcels border Grand Crus Classés, such as Rauzan Ségla, Giscours, du Tertre and d'Issan and the vineyards have never seen weedkiller or pesticides, as Éric believes in the importance of biodiversity.
Nice deep garnet colour. Good intensity on the nose, very inviting, lots of ripe red and black fruit notes. These follow onto the palate and are joined by floral and some wood notes. This wine has a good long finish.
Red meats and cheese
Daily pumping over. Post fermentation maceration takes three weeks. Aging: In French oak barrels of which a third are of new wood.
