Château Lagune

Situated just below the village of Margaux and next to Château Cantemerle, this has long been a very popular château. Since 2000 La Lagune has been in the hands of the talented Jean-Jacques Frey who is producing excellent wines year after year.

Very ripe nose, almost brooding, and offering sweet and stewed black fruits laced with hint of graphite and warm earth. The tannins are rounded, not aggressive and yet build in dominance through the wine. The structure is powerful and persistent, holding the dense fruit, chocolatey and earthy characters well, softening slightly toward the finish. The freshness is obvious throughout, making this wine feel wonderfully alive and energetic.

Pair with classic meat dishes, veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, roasted, braised and grilled dishes.

A yield of 25hl/ha, the wine is aged in 50% new oak for 14 months.
