Château Beychevelle is an estate along La Gironde about 30 miles northwest of Bordeaux near the village of St.-Julien. Founded in the Middle Ages, Château Beychevelle was once owned by an admiral in the French navy who demanded respect by baisse voile (lowering of the masts when passing his riverfront fortification). Tasting Notes

The nose is fresh and expressive, with pure notes of raspberry and strawberry. On the palate, there is excellent depth, with ripe blackcurrant, cedar, and a vibrant acidity that brings precision and energy. The tannins are smooth and supple, contributing to an overall impression of elegance and finesse.

Food Matches

Delicious with rare roast beef with seasonal vegetables and yorkshire pudding.

Vinification

Harvest began with the Merlot on 24th September and finished on 9th October with the Cabernet Sauvignon, yielding a 43 hl/ha. Will be aged in 70% new oak for 18 months.
