The Torres vineyards in Chile have grown from an initial purchase in 1979 of the Ahrex family estate, comprising one hundred hectares of vineyards and a winery. Attracted by the special climatic conditions of the Curicó region of Chile, Torres has since purchased more and more vineyard in Chile to cope with demand for his very pure, varietal wines. He now owns some 330 hectares of vineyard located around Curicó and spread across three, climactically diverse vineyards. The company continues to expand and has just purchased an area of slatey vineyard around Empedrado, 180km south of Curico. Torres was the first major foreign investor to see the potential for creating quality wines in Chile and has, in many ways, acted as the catalyst for the astonishing development of the country’s wine industry.
Pale rose colour, with fine and persistent bubbles. On the nose, notes of red fruits and citrus predominate. The palate is, fresh, lively, and genuine, characteristic of the ancestral varietal Pais.
Lovely as an aperitif or with canapes or to partner seafood or light salads.
"This is the most extraordinary wine, very delicious, well-made fizz that is really quite delicate - I am very impressed by how clean and attractive it is". Jancis Robinson, Purple Pages - Feb 2013
