Château Beaumont

This is a highly regarded Château under the same ownership as Château Beychevelle. Located on the left bank of the Gironde, between the communes of Margaux and Saint-Julien, Château Beaumont draws its finesse and its delicacy from the deep gravels of the best soils of the Haut-Médoc The vineyard of Beaumont was born in 1824 and thirty years later, the beautiful Renaissance mansard style castle, still occupied today, was built. After seeing a succession of owners, Château Beaumont was bought in 1986 by the GMF (Grands Millésimes de France) group, also owner of Château Beychevelle. With the aim of producing rich and crowd pleasing wine, they have hired consultant Eric Boissenot, a renown oenologist in Bordeaux who is involved in many estates including Château Latour, Château Margaux, Château Lafite-Rothschild and Château Mouton-Rothschild. The 113 hectares domaine lie in a single block with an average of twenty years old vine. It is planted with 53 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. Wines spend 12 to 14 months in oak barrels, one-third of them renewed each year.
