‍This ‍wine ‍gets ‍its ‍name ‍from ‍the ‍shape ‍of ‍the ‍field ‍in ‍which the ‍vineyard ‍now ‍sits. ‍The ‍woodland ‍along ‍the ‍bottom ‍and ‍to ‍its ‍peak ‍have ‍created ‍three ‍points, ‍making ‍its ‍shape ‍resemble ‍a ‍‘Three ‍Cocked ‍Hat.’ ‍It’s ‍name ‍goes ‍back ‍from ‍before ‍the current owners ‍owned ‍the ‍farm ‍in ‍the ‍1940’s ‍and ‍will ‍continue ‍far ‍in ‍the ‍future! ‍

Little Wold Vineyard

Market Place Farm has been in the Wilson family for over 70 years. The farm was bought in 1947 by Robert Wilson when the ‘Cave Castle’ estate was split up. At the time Robert bought the farm, it was farmed in a traditionally mixed way. Based just a few miles from House of Townend, we are very delighted to be able to support this local winery as it goes from strength to strength.
The fragrant nose is packed with red cherry, raspberry, plum and some subtle hedgerow fruits. The palate has a joyous crunch of red fruits with more cherry and kirsch flavours to the fore. The finish continues the vibrant fruit journey and has excellent length and balance.
Try it with a homemade cottage pie or Cumberland sausage and mash. Or get your pizza oven out and try it with a homemade pizza with wild mushroom and nduja sausage.
