Lebanon is one of the world’s oldest producers of wine with evidence of wineries dating back almost 9,000 years. Due to the French occupation after World War I, many of the grapes grown in Lebanese wineries are of French origin, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cinsaut. One of the country’s oldest existing wine regions is the Bekaa Valley, home to some of the best wineries in Lebanon, including the infamous Château Musar which has been making fine red wines since the 1930s.
