Château Musar

In 1930, at just 20 years old, Gaston Hochar founded Château Musar, inspired by Lebanon's 6,000 year winemaking tradition and his travels in Bordeaux. His 'wines with noblesse' greatly impressed senior officers in the army following on from the Franch mandate of the 1920s. Major Ronald Barton, of Château Langoa-Barton, stationed in Lebanon during World War II became a great friend, strengthening the links between Château Musar and Bordeaux that remain to this day.
Deep beetroot in colour. On the nose intense red fruit of strawberry, raspberry and red cherries. On the palate black fruit also comes through; blackcurrant and black cherries with a warm hit of black pepper that balances the fruit, as well as earthy notes. Silky texture and long finish.
Drink with a hearty casserole or mature cheese
Made from Cinsault, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah vines that have been planted since 200 and 1,000m above sea level. Fermented in cement lined vats and released a year after harvest.
