Wakefield Wines

Wakefield is a third generation family wine business and was founded in 1969 by Bill Taylor. Today Wakefield is headed up by Mitchell Taylor whose philosophy blends an ‘old world’ estate mind set with ‘new world’ winemaking innovation; coupled with an almost fanatical attention to detail and obsession with quality. This results in wines of tremendous quality and style that are made with respect for the company’s family heritage. The Wakefield estate now covers 750 hectares from which a range of distinctive wines to suit every occasion is crafted.
The wine is a very pale straw colour with a slight green tinge. The nose shows zesty lemon and lime aromas along with faint orange blossom. This Riesling has fresh lemon/lime juice characters and a slate-like minerality across the mid-palate. It is backed up by a persistent and refreshing lime finish.
An ideal accompaniment to Asian or Asian-inspired food.
Average vine age is 20-40 years old. The grapes are machine harvested.Whole berry pressing is carried out. Cool fermentation is undertaken in stainless steel tanks. Matured in stainless steel tanks for between 3 - 6 months.

Decanter 2019: 95/100 points.
