Savigny-lès-Beaune, Louis Latour

SAVI155
Lying just beneath the hill of Beaune, the vine-growing areas of Savigny-lès-Beaune fall into two areas. The first is in the south adjacent to Beaune and the other is in the north bordering on the appellation of Aloxe-Corton. The red wines of Savigny are very like those of Beaune.

Louis Latour

The Latour family have long been established in Burgundy's wine trade. They began as vine growers in the village of Aloxe-Corton as early as 1768 and went on to establish today's business, Maison Louis Latour, in 1797. Today they are one of the region's most famous names creating wines from their own 50 hectare domaine in the Côte d'Or and from grapes and wines purchased through the négociant arm of the business.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby red in appearance, the Savigny-lès-Beaune has an intense nose full of wild strawberry, cherry, coffee and spices aromas. Powerful flavours on the palate of liquorice and cassis.

Food Matches

A superb accompaniment to rich poultry, casseroles, light game dishes and hard cheese.

Vinification

Fermentation is carried out in the traditional manner using open vats. The wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in oak barrels, 10% new. Louis Latour cooperage, french oak, medium toasted
