Aidan Menzies

Our winemaking project in South East Australia has been extremely successful, working in partnership with winemaker Aidan Menzies. Our aim? To produce a pair of delicious everyday drinking wines that made Australia so popular in the early years of the millennium, and to offer the wine drinker a clear alternative to the drab, characterless wines bottled here in the UK. BINGO!

Tasting Notes

Bright, vibrant red in colour with aromas of soft cherry and plum fruit and spicy nuances with the Shiraz dominating. Nice berry fruit flavours on the palate with a spicy-savoury note making this a wine that will go well with food. The ripe tannins of the Cabernet have been ameliorated ( what a word!! ) by the softer Shiraz to give a rounded and lush red.

Food Matches

Enjoy with spaghetti and tuscan meatballs.

Vinification

The grapes are picked over several days, de-stemmed and fermented on skins for 15 days, with night picking used to preserve the acidity and freshness, followed by a warm tank ferment used to preserve the juicy berry fruit, and natural weight and roundness of the wine. Unoaked and fresh, yet with a deep core of sweet red and blackberry fruit.
