Château Les Arroucats Cuveé Virginie, Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, Half bottle

Just over the river from Sauternes lies the lesser known sweet wine region of Saint-Croix-du- Mont. The wines here benefit from the same climatic conditions that promote the development of the beneficial Botrytis fungus (Noble Rot) that helps make intense sweet wines. This is a beautifully complex and aromatic wine with buttery and fine spice hints, which is full of exotic flavours of apricot and white peach.

Château Les Arroucats

Château Les Arroucats is located in the commune of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont. The property was founded after the war by Monsieur Labat. It was taken over by his daughter Mme Annie Lapouge in 1990 who undertook the development and modernisation of the domaine until 2000 when her daughter Mme Virginie Barbe took over running the property. The wines from Sainte-Croix-du-Mont are similar in style to the more famous wines from Sauternes on the other side of the Garonne. Its strategic location next to the Garonne River makes it a haven for the ‘Noble Rot’ to develop which contribute to the wine's rich flavours.

Tasting Notes

A beautiful complex and aromatic wine with buttery and fine spice hints. Full of exotic flavours of apricot and white peach. The wonderful richness on the palate is balanced by a lively finish. The wine can be enjoyed immediately or within 5 or 10 years.

Food Matches

Perfect as an aperitif, or pair with melon, blue cheese or fruit-based desserts.


Average age of vines is 40 years old. Manual harvest with a minimum of 3 passes. Traditional vinification in stainless steel and cement tanks. Maturation 1 -2 years.
