This 49 hectare estate has recently been in outstanding form to maintain its reputation as a ‘Super Second Growth’. Bruno Borie has continued to reduce the quantity of Ducru produced, nearly halving the quantity since 2003. La Croix de Beaucaillou, the chateau’s second (and also very impressive) wine, now accounts for a greater share of the crop than the first wine. This has resulted in the quality of Ducru Beaucaillou sky rocketing. Once again this is a truly a great claret.
A beautiful Claret that has an endearing personality. Now evolving well, firmly structured, it is elegant but not lean and boast a classic cedar palate with attractive red berry fruits. The angular tannins give a certain sturdiness but, without doubt, a very result this vintage.
Enjoy with roast ribs of beef and yorkshire pudding with a horseradish, crème fraiche and mustard sauce.
