Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou was built in 1720 and began acquiring its excellent reputation, both domestically and internationally, under the careful ownership of the Bergeron family. The name Ducru was established in 1795 when Bertrand Ducru bought the property. Bertrand invested heavily in the château, vineyards and cellar facilities and gained second growth status in the 1855 classification. Following several changes in ownership, including the Johnston family and the Desbarats family, the estate is now run by the Borie family who also reside at the property. Bruno Borie, the third generation of the Borie dynasty at Ducru-Beaucaillou, heads-up the business today as a leading producer from the 2eme Cru Classé, the wines provide many reasons for adoration. These are outstanding wines, with concentration, richness and stunning depth. The Ducru-Beaucaillou estate consists of 245 hectares in total, with 100 hectares planted with vines.

Tasting Notes

A beautiful Claret that has an endearing personality. Now evolving well, firmly structured, it is elegant but not lean and boast a classic cedar palate with attractive red berry fruits. The angular tannins give a certain sturdiness but, without doubt, a very result this vintage.

Food Matches

Enjoy with roast ribs of beef and yorkshire pudding with a horseradish, crème fraiche and mustard sauce.
