Longboard Vineyards
Longboard was born from the passion of Oded Shakked, surfer first, winemaker later, who brings a unique perspective to winemaking, or rather winegrowing as he prefers to call it. Longboard believes that great tasting wines are those that are true to the people and place that grew them. Thus, they extend the notion of “terroir” to include the human aspect, not just the soils, climate and weather.
Tasting Notes
This wine shows a lot of bright fruit character when young (plum, strawberry and cherry) and will slowly develop a rose petal aroma. The slight smoked-meat character from the Burgundy-sourced barrels integrate into the mid palate and meld with a dark cherry note on the finish.
Food Matches
Pinot Noir loves the company of food, especially Salmon, aged cheeses and a variety of meat cuts.
Vinification
12 months in French oak barrels, 30% new.
