A stunning, finely crafted wine. Yann owns 1.15 hectares on the hill of Hermitage in two lieux-dits (Beaume and Peleat), both in the central part of the appellation. Aged in 100% new, 650 litre demi-muids principally from Taransaud as Yann feels their barrels are best suited to rich, concentrated vintages.

Domaine Yann Chave

Yann Chave joined his father Bernard at the family winery in 1996 and quickly set about expanding and improving the estate. Today, the domaine extends over 20 hectares, including 1.15 hectares on the hill of Hermitage itself, and is certified organic in its entirety. Vinification is meticulous. The fruit is 100% destemmed and then fermented and macerated for 20-25 days in stainless steel vats, followed by ageing for 9-12 months in either stainless steel or 650 litre oak casks. Yann produces superb, rich, characterful wines, amongst the very best of the region.
A wonderful compact, tight bouquet is followed by a palate that is solid and concentrated. There is an abundance of ripe cassis fruits and a delectable freshness providing perfect balance to the wine. A stunning, finely crafted wine.
