Finca Moncloa

On the route of the ‘Pueblas Blancas’ in Andalucia, Arcos de la Frontera is considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in Spain. The area is generally associated with sherry production, but in fact has a long forgotten tradition of making red wines, with records dating back to the 14th century. Gonzalez Byass recognised the quality potential of the grapes from the area and in 2000 they bought Finca Moncloa, a 42 acre estate on clay and limestone soils, with a Mediterranean climate, producing red grapes with great intensity.

Tasting Notes

A wine of medium-high intensity with cherry red tones. Intense aromas of red and black fruits such as blackberry, blueberry and plum. It also shows mineral notes, spices such as black pepper, clove and vanilla and balsamics which intensify in the glass. Flavours of fruit, spice and notes of oak are revealed on the long and persistent finish.

Food Matches

An ideal accompaniment to game, cold meats, spicy food, red meats, lamb and dishes with strong sauces.

For the production of this wine the best parcels and best bunches are selected. After malolactic fermentation each variety is aged separately in new French and new American oak barrels. After 12 months in barrel the blend is carried out. The wine was bottled in March 2014 and will remain in bottle for upto 12 months before release.
