Intense, deep garnet in colour, the bouquet is dense, tight and deep with violet aromas, blackcurrant fruit dominance and a touch of oak that adds a smoky dimension. The palate is well structured, elegant, silky and rich with beautifully integrated tannins, liquorice, candy and garrigue. The finish is long, velvety with a hint of sea salt. A wine with great personality.

Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe

Vieux Télégraphe is one of the most renowned estates of the Southern Rhône. The large Domain has about 45 hectares of red grapevines planted, with an average age of around 55 years. Blessed with one of the finest locations in the area, the particularly hot microclimate is such that the Brunier Family, owners of the estate for almost a century, are able to harvest as much as a week ahead of their neighbours.
Produced from vineyards located on the stony plateau of La Crau in the south east of the appellation, where the villages of Bédarrides and Courthézon meet. The vines average 60 years of age and the vineyard is the hottest in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. A very hot year, yet despite the vintage starting early, the phenolic ripeness in the grapes was perfect, producing a superb result. Enjoy with the finest cuts of red meats, lamb and even goat. Good cheese and the smellier the better!
The grapes are handpicked, sorted and partially destemmed and then fermented in stainless steel tanks for between 25 - 35 days. After nine months in concrete tanks, the wine is then aged for 10 months in 60hl oak foudres. It is then bottled, without filtration, after 20 months.

Decanter, April 2022, 91 points: "Dark nose with notes of ripe blackberries, redcurrants and leafy notes. Firm and tight on the palate, full bodied"
