Wines from Darling Hills

South Africa’s Darling Hills lie just 10 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, which means that cool easterly breezes keep the temperature in the region down. With a lot of clouds being blown in from the west and north, Darling sees a lot of rainfall in the year, but in summer months the temperature can rise to up to 30°C. Often humid and hot, the vineyards produce a low to medium yield, making for an intense, full-bodied flavour in many of the wines. Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are the most popular grape types grown, though some of the regions vineyards have won awards for their champagne blends and Sauvignon Blancs.
