Montagne is the principle satellite of St Emilion, lying between Lussac and St Emilion itself. The low rolling hills and free-draining sand and clay soils provide water and warmth to the Merlot dominated vineyards, with yields of around 45hl/ha common. The wines are firm, structured with a good intensity and balance and can cellar well for 5-15 years.
