Originating in the late 1800's as a drink called 'Cuffs and Buttons' and produced in St Louis, Missouri, Southern Comfort is a traditional liqueur made from bourbon and peaches.

Southern Comfort Co.

Southern Comfort was created in 1874 by Martin Wilkes Heron a bartender who believed whiskey should be enjoyed not endured. Dissatisfied with the harsh taste of whiskies at the time Heron’s customers begged for something a little smoother. Seizing his opportunity Heron gathered a few of his favourite fruits and spices and mixed them with whiskey. He named his concoction "Cuffs & Buttons." Turns out Cuffs & Buttons was hard to say so he renamed it Southern Comfort. A tradition was born and it's been on the label ever since.
A slow release of spice on the nose followed by sweetness and aromas of fresh red fruit. The sweetness carries onto the palate with the fruit becoming riper. A little spice hit near the long finish.
We love the Alabama Slammer; blend Southern Comfort with amaretto, sloe gin and orange juice for a delicious fruity cocktail.
