This domaine has been producing wine now for five generations, but it is since the present owner, Jean Pierre Charlot, son-in-law of Joseph Voillot, took control that it has moved into the league of serious wine producers. The domaine consists of 10ha of vineyards, including some prized sites in several 1er Crus. The grapes are partially destemmed and the wines matured in oak barrels (20-35% new) for 12-18 months. Without doubt one of the finest domaines in Volnay, these wines are never heavy or over extracted. They offer the fragrance, charm and beauty so typical of Volnay.
Straight from the barrel, this wine has a wonderful soft, ripe and open style, very appealing with a sweet perfume and lush texture. The body is smooth, quite developed and spicy with a very open immediate style that centres on cherry liqueur and damson with integrated sweet oak. The finish is long, very lush and soft.
Try with slow cooked rabbit with herbs.
Produced from 60 year old vines and aged for 14 months in 25% new oak.
